Yes the first email arrived.
Just received a short email from elder Mensink to let us know that he arrived safe although delayed (welcome to airline land).
The first day was spend at the mission presidents home, and used to rest somewhat from the trip and to meet his mission president.
The mission president will send us a picture of the 2 of them, so looking forward to that.
His first assignment is in Leuven ( click here for maps of leuven-region ).
His first compagnion is Elder Hafoka from Tonga (and info here)who learned to speak Dutch. Never new that there is online dutch nowadays
However there seem to be a lot of Chinese students there, and Elder Mensink will have plenty opportunities to practice his new found language skills, since Elder Hafoka doesnt speak Chinese.
Nathan also activated his account here, so if you see a Elder Mensink online --> thats Him !, now you can also private message him (thats a post only he can see like email).
Thats all folks.

Letter July 27th 2005
The iPod and the Candy Made the week !
Out of all 17 Mandarin speaking missionries, Nathan is the first to leave at 3am !
the flight from Salt lake is at 6:22 am to Chicago, then a 7hour wait, looks like the airport will be to target for several missionaries that day.
Then leave Chicago at 5:45 pm to arrive in Brussels at 8:45 am the next day. (August 2)
Nathan will call Mom & Dad from the airport, so looking forward to that.
The big thing around the MTC now is that they will finally be send out to each go their way and proclaim the gospel. Everyone is excited.
Nathan saw BJ Todd but hasnt had much time to talk to him, since they are in different classesand groups, but noticed he had grow to be a huge guy.
Went to the temple a few more times early morning, and enjoyed the brethren and sister that worked the early shifts (mostly retired folks).
While playing Volleyball on P-day, a beautifull new wakesetter went by, to remind him of how much he enjoys wakeboarding as wel.
Ah well it will be a while before he will wakeboard again.
Thats all folks, from now on news from the mission field which is already white to be harvested .

Finally on his way
This morning to our great joy, Nathan called briefly from the airport in Salt Lake City, seems his letter with details was send but had not arrived at our mailbox yet
He is right on his way to Chicago on American Airlines flight 730 with a whole bunch of missionaries.
Once there he will have a wait of about 7 hrs before flying (Alone) to Brussels.
He sure was happy to go start the mission work.
Hope he will call again from the airport in Chacago, since we only spoke very briefly since his flight was boarding.
More later.
